You can connect to CheesyMUD using the default telnet client already on your machine. But...
Personally, I recommend a specialized MUD client. tintin++ is very popular, and ports for your specific platform can be found at your nearest FreeBSD archive site. If you don't know where to get FreeBSD distribs, you probably don't want to try to learn tintin++. On the PC, I've heard some good things about Pueblo. However, I can't say anything about it personally, because I've always used zMUD. I'm just a creature of habit, I guess.
Once again, when you get the client running, look for "CheesyMUD" in the MUD list, or just use cheesymud.com, port 4001.
